Breakdown: 3 Classes, some materials included. Please bring old clothing, blankets, yarn, and other textiles for rug hooking. If you own crochet hooks, bring those too! Some fabric will be provided, frames, burlap, and hooks are provided.
Lets learn how to recycle fabrics, Acadian style. Learn traditional rug hooking techniques, inspired by Acadian Rug Hooking, utilizing burlap, hooks, and frames. Materials used in rug hooking can be anything from unused yarns, unwound sweaters, old blankets, sweaters, and other fabrics.
Students will create their own hooked piece, around 12x12 inches. We will share fabrics and materials in this process. Each week will be a study in design, the rug hooking practice, and finishing your pieces. By the end of this session, students will leave with the skills and knowledge to rug hook in the future.
It is recommended to gather inspiration before class!
