In this 2 week exploration of thrown plates, blates, and other similar forms, learn how to properly make finicky pieces from throwing them, trimming them, decorating, and then drying. Plates are tricky, but the class is not! This Beginner friendly and Intermediate appropriate class will be an option for all skill levels to walk out with refined skills and pieces to be used for years to come.
Class 1 will focus on throwing larger forms. We will explore plates and other serving-style thrown forms. We will discuss the methods to support success through each process. Throwing skills are helpful, but not necessary at all. Class 2 will focus on trimming the forms, decorating and customizing them, and then taking the steps to dry them effectively, reducing warping, cracks, and other plate-based drama.
Pieces will be clear glazed for pickup, however students may request pieces only be bisqued and glaze them themselves.
Pieces will be ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after the Workshop.
