Breakdown: 4 classes. All clay included, red clay is used. Bisque firing included. Glaze firing is at an additional charge coordinated with the studio.

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Students may cancel their space in a class up to 48 hours ahead of the sessions start date. Upon cancelling, you will be refunded class cost and HST, minus 5% due to transaction and refund fees paid by the studio. If you wish to pass the class onto a friend, you may do this free of charge. 
We offer full refund in the form of studio credit if desired.

There is something deeply personal about sculpting your own face. In this multi-week workshop at Squiggle the Studio, you will do exactly that, creating a portrait of your face in clay, observing things like the structure of your skull, the curve of your nose, the fold of your ear, and the style/texture of your hair or scalp.

The course begins with preparatory sketching and observation exercises, training your eye to truly see the proportions and relationships that make a face uniquely yours. From there, you will work in clay week by week; building form, refining features, and learning to use callipers and measuring tools to ensure accuracy in placement, form and scale.

You will be guided through each facial feature: eyes, nose, mouth, ears, learning the sculpting techniques specific to each, as well as how to render specific textures and surface details. The final piece is a portrait that includes the full face, ears, and the top and sides of the head, capturing your likeness in a way that is both technically grounded and expressively your own.

This course is well suited to mixed skill levels, however some experience with clay is
recommended (such as one of the beginner courses at Squiggle the studio) It is set to deepen your hand-building practice, focusing on observation, accuracy and the tools/skills to replicate form. You will leave with a finished portrait sculpture and a toolkit of observational and technical skills that will support your artistic growth long after the course ends.
